Comparison

PulseRank vs the alternatives

PulseRank is an autonomous SEO and GEO engine that runs fan-out query research per article, writes and publishes to your site daily, and reports on Search Console rankings and AI citations.

Most alternatives do one of two jobs rather than both: they measure whether AI engines cite you, or they help you write faster. Which is the better buy depends almost entirely on whether you already have someone to do the writing.

Where each one wins

Otterly.ai

AI search visibility tracking

Otterly is an AI search visibility tracker that reruns your prompts daily across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, then reports where your brand is mentioned and cited. It does not write or publish anything.

Lite $29 (15 prompts), Standard $189 (100 prompts), Premium $489 (400 prompts). Tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot on every tier; Gemini and Claude are paid add-ons.

Choose it over PulseRank if: Measuring AI visibility on a small budget. If you already have a content team and only need to know whether engines cite you, this is the cheapest honest way to find out.

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

AI search visibility tracking (add-on)

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit is an add-on to Semrush that reports which AI engines mention your brand, researches the prompts buyers use, and audits a site for AI readiness. It measures visibility rather than producing content.

Billed annually. Covers 1 domain and 25 tracked prompts. Extra users start at $45/mo. It is an add-on, so it assumes you are already paying for Semrush.

Choose it over PulseRank if: Teams already inside the Semrush ecosystem who want AI visibility data next to their existing rank tracking, without adding another vendor.

Frase

Content briefs, optimization and AI visibility

Frase is a content research and optimization platform that builds briefs from search results, scores drafts for SEO and GEO, and tracks AI visibility. A person still writes and publishes the article.

Starter $49 (10 articles, 1 site), Professional $129 (40 articles, 5 sites), Scale $299 (100 articles, 10 domains). Roughly 20% off annually. Every tier includes SEO and GEO scoring plus AI visibility on ChatGPT and Google AI.

Choose it over PulseRank if: Writers and agencies who want to keep a human in the loop. Frase is the strongest value on raw article volume — 100 articles at $299 is cheaper per article than PulseRank — provided you have someone to do the work.

Surfer SEO

On-page optimization and AI writing

Surfer SEO is an on-page optimization tool that scores content against what currently ranks and suggests changes as you write, with an AI writing assistant and AI prompt tracking on higher tiers.

Billed yearly: Discovery €49 (120 documents), Standard €99 (360 documents, 25 AI prompts tracked weekly), Pro €182 (50 prompts, daily), Peace of Mind €299 (100 prompts, daily). A standalone AI Search Analytics tier starts at €158/mo.

Choose it over PulseRank if: Optimizing content you or your writers are already producing. Surfer's content editor is more mature than anything bundled into an autonomous tool, and prompt tracking is included from the Standard tier up.

Brandwell (formerly Content at Scale)

Long-form AI content generation

Brandwell is a long-form AI content generator, previously sold as Content at Scale, that produces full articles from a keyword or brief for a human to review and publish.

Content at Scale rebranded to Brandwell and its pricing page no longer lists tiers — prospects are routed to sales. Third-party sites quote figures between $49 and $1,500/mo, which is a wide enough spread to treat all of them as unreliable.

Choose it over PulseRank if: Buyers who want a sales conversation and a negotiated contract rather than a self-serve plan.

Where PulseRank is the wrong choice

PulseRank is not priced per article and is not the cheapest way to get words onto a page. Frase’s top self-serve tier covers more articles per month for less than PulseRank costs; PulseRank is $499/month for roughly one article a day. If you have writers and you simply want them to work faster, a content tool plus a tracker will cost you less.

The case for PulseRank is that nobody has to run it. Research, writing, publishing and reporting happen without a person in the loop — which is worth paying for only if the alternative is hiring, or not publishing at all.
